Narelle Fowler
Counsellor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner & Birth/Postpartum Doula
Supporting Parents, Mothers and Individuals Through Trauma, Embodiment and Life Transitions
Philosophy
I grew up on a farm in the Mallee, which shaped my connection to nature and the way I understand healing. Just as the earth moves through its cycles and seasons, our nervous system also carries innate wisdom and ways of moving towards balance. I believe healing happens gently, in connection with others, and when we have enough safety and support. My role is to walk alongside you with patience and care, supporting your nervous system to find the conditions it needs to return to regulation and connection.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach is trauma-sensitive and body-based, grounded in inclusive and compassionate care. It’s informed by Somatic Experiencing®, nervous system awareness, and trauma-informed counselling, woven together with elements of trauma-sensitive yoga and mindfulness practices.
At the heart of my work is the relationship – building trust and creating a felt sense of safety from which healing can unfold. This process is both profound and gentle, always paced slowly and guided by deep respect for your body’s natural wisdom and boundaries.
Each session is co-created. Together, we listen to the story your body holds through sensations, images, emotions, behaviours and memories. When the body has space to complete survival responses and release protective patterns, your capacity to stay present with more of your emotions and experiences can gently expand – allowing you to move through life with greater ease, curiosity, connection and wholeness.

Professional Background
I’m a qualified Social Worker and Somatic Experiencing–trained practitioner, as well as a certified birth and postpartum doula, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and group facilitator. For more than 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through trauma healing, embodiment, and life transitions.
I have worked across a range of counselling roles and settings, including sexual assault trauma counselling and alcohol and other drug support. In these capacities, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people of many identities, cultures and life experiences – including LGBTIQA+ and neurodiverse individuals, people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds, survivors of sexual assault and complex trauma, people navigating substance use, women and gender-diverse people with lived experience of incarceration, individuals bereaved by suicide, and those impacted by disability, violence or mental health challenges.
As a doula, I walk with mothers, parents and families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, honouring these tender transitions as sacred rites of passage. I offer a safe and compassionate space where families can feel held, nourished and resourced.
At the heart of all my work is a deep respect for the body’s wisdom and a commitment to walking alongside each person with individualised, compassionate care.
